Jesus’ Authority. Throughout the Gospel’s Jesus’

authority is demonstrated through his command

over natural elements, in preaching, healing, and

exorcisms. In this text his command and authority

over demons is illustrated. Obedience. The Apostles demonstrate obedience to

Jesus’ command to go preach and heal. Our obedience gains us no greater standing before God.

However, our obedience is a response to our worship of him. Sunday is not the only day we should be

Christian. Each day is one where God is worshipped and obeyed. Discipleship. If we are to look at Jesus as a model of discipleship then our models must include mentorship, demonstration, biblical and theological

training, and service to our communities.
