Cost of Discipleship

The cost of discipleship. Jesus repeatedly tells his disciples to carry their cross, count the cost, and the death of John the Baptist is an example of those warnings. As disciples of Christ we seek to put to death sin through the power of the Holy Spirit and remain faithful to his call on our lives. Jesus gave his life so that we might live in his righteousness, be forgiven, and glorify him. Parallels between John and Jesus. John and Jesus were both arrested at no fault of their own, were hated by those who put them to death, and each authority responsible for their death had the opportunity to relent.
