Love One Another

Love one another. It is the core command in the Christian life and a descriptive attribute of Christ-followers. It is what Jesus says we'd be known for (John 13:35) and is evidence of God's work in us. (1 John 3:10)

1 John 3 emphasizes how loving one another isn't something we simply say, but is expressed in action and how we interact with each other. (1 John 3:18) Yet, if we focus on actions only, we'll miss what John is expressing in this letter. Loving actions isn't the point or our goal, but is produced in us as a result of our life of abiding in Christ. When we live into the fullness of who Christ is (this is done spending time with the Lord in prayer, scripture, and Christian community) it results in us living into the fullness of who He has created us to be. Love is a product of this!
