God The Father
As we consider the mystery of the Trinity, instead of being turned off because it seems too hard to grasp or we just don’t understand this mystery, we are invited to know God more fully and intimately. That's what Peter’s message on the Day of Pentecost was all about!
The Trinity is one of the most distinct doctrines of the Christian faith, primarily because it is a doctrine that shapes the whole of our faith.
Given the emptiness inside each one of us and the innate longing of our hearts, people desperately need to know and experience God the Father’s love. In our text Peter describes the Father’s role in the death and resurrection of Jesus, as well as in the outpouring of God the Spirit. In Peter’s sermon we see that God the Father’s love can be known in two essential ways; as the God who is full of goodness and as the Father who is full of grace! God the Father raised Jesus and sent the Spirit making it possible for us to become his sons and daughters. (See Acts 2:32-36.) Through the sacrifice of God the Son and because of the Father’s goodness, you have been redeemed. You have been filled with God the Spirit. You are never alone. You never need to worry - about yesterday, today, or tomorrow.
You are filled with and surrounded by the goodness of God your Father.
The Father’s grace provides release from the power of sin, what Peter calls “the forgiveness of your sins” (Acts 2:38). When God remembers our sins no more, by grace he chooses not to act against us according to our sin. This is on the basis of God the Son’s sacrifice for sin. God the Father canceled the debt of our sin by not counting our sin against us.
By his grace, God the Father has called you into the depths of his love. I encourage you to press on to a deeper awareness of your Father - to know and be known by his limitless love through a daily experience of his goodness and grace.
