Embracing Peace

Dec 3, 2023    Pastor Josh

As we enter the season of Advent, this season of waiting in anticipation, our focus is on the incredible peace God offers us. Not just a peace rooted in the absence of conflict, but of the wholeness and care found in God's presence. This "shalom" is holistic and transformative. This peace is something available to us, we get to embrace it.

Mary's Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55) is a powerful expression of worship and trust in the middle of uncertainty. Despite the potential fear and social ramifications of her situation, Mary's soul magnified the Lord, demonstrating a deep trust and joy in God. This act of magnifying God, even in challenging times, teaches us that when we shift our focus to God's greatness, our difficulties can become less overwhelming.

An essential part of receiving this peace is finding certainty in who God is, even when our circumstances are uncertain. This stems from an understanding and internalization of God's character, as revealed through Scripture and seen in Christ. We are encouraged to cultivate hearts of worship, embrace humility, and surrender to God's plan. Our challenge is to live oru this peace daily, trusting in God's mindfulness and care for us, as we anticipate the celebration of the Incarnation and look forward to His second coming!
